Outcome Memories can feel overwhelming the first time you load in, especially with multiple characters, abilities, and a unique survivor-versus-executioner structure. This guide breaks everything down step by step so you can confidently survive your early matches and understand your role from the very start.
Outcome Memories v0.2 Beginner’s Guide
Best Settings for New Players
Outcome Memories already has solid default settings, but a few small adjustments can noticeably improve your gameplay experience.
Increase your Field of View (FOV) from the settings menu by clicking the gear icon on the left side of your screen. A higher FOV, around 110–120, gives better peripheral vision and helps you track the executioner more easily during chases.
Enable Toggle Run so you do not need to constantly hold the run key. This makes movement smoother and lets you focus more on positioning and ability timing.
Lower Camera Shake to around 10–15. Camera shake can look cinematic, but during intense moments it becomes distracting and can cause you to misjudge distance or timing.
Understanding Survivors and Playstyles
There are currently seven survivors in the game: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Eggman, and Metal Sonic. Each survivor fits into a specific role, and choosing one that matches your playstyle makes learning the game much easier.
Instead of trying everyone immediately, it is best to start with one role and master it.
Knuckles – Stunner Role (Frontline Control)
Knuckles is ideal for players who enjoy being aggressive and controlling the executioner. His job is to delay and interrupt attacks so teammates can escape or reposition.
His Punch ability launches him forward and stuns the executioner. Holding the ability charges it, increasing stun duration. You can also jump before punching to slam the ground, making it easier to stun while being chased.
His Counter ability highlights Knuckles briefly, but any incoming attack during this time is negated. The executioner is pushed back and stunned, giving you a safe window to retreat or wait for cooldowns.
When playing Knuckles, expect to be near the executioner often. Watch your health bar closely and pull back when low. If Cream is on your team, coordinate with her to receive heals so you can stay active on the frontline longer.
Cream – Support Role (Team Sustain)
Cream is perfect for players who prefer helping the team rather than fighting directly. Her value comes from keeping everyone alive.
Her Heal ability restores health to nearby survivors. The radius is short, and you are vulnerable while using it, so healing from cover or behind walls is essential. Communication is key, as teammates should fall back to you rather than forcing risky heals.
Her Dash ability lets her quickly reposition and grants a speed boost if she collides with teammates. This is useful for escaping danger or quickly reaching injured allies.
As Cream, healing uptime is your top priority. Your decisions often determine whether the team survives long engagements or collapses under pressure.
Eggman – Survivalist Role (Self-Preservation)
Eggman is designed for players who want to focus purely on surviving. He does not stun or heal teammates directly, but he excels at staying alive.
His Force Shield blocks all incoming damage for a short duration. If the executioner attacks during this time, they are pushed back and briefly stunned.
His Jetpack Boost grants high-speed movement with full control, making it one of the most reliable escape tools in the game.
Eggman also has a Double Jump passive, giving him extra mobility when navigating maps or escaping chases.
While Eggman mostly benefits himself, he has one team interaction. Standing close to Metal Sonic while Metal Sonic uses self-repair increases Metal Sonic’s healing speed. This small synergy can make a big difference during late-game moments.
Executioner Overview – 2011X
The executioner’s role is simple in concept but demanding in execution: eliminate all survivors before time runs out. Currently, the only executioner available is 2011X.
His M1 attack deals 42 damage and is your main source of pressure.
Invisibility makes you untouchable by stuns, increases movement speed, and allows teleporting near survivors when close enough.
Charge lets you fly forward and grab a survivor, dealing heavy damage and disrupting their movement.
God’s Trickery teleports you behind a random survivor and lunges forward, dealing damage and briefly confusing them if they fail to dodge.
Rage Mode is a one-time ability per match. It activates once your rage meter fills from being stunned. Rage Mode pauses the timer, increases movement speed, reveals survivor locations periodically, and boosts base damage from 42 to 50. During Rage Mode, you cannot use invisibility or God’s Trickery, but your reduced stun duration allows relentless aggression.
Timing Rage Mode correctly often decides the match, so use it when survivors are grouped or already under pressure.
Map Mechanics You Must Know
Maps include environmental hazards that affect all players.
On Green Hill’s final phase, thunder strikes target all living players. Getting hit sets you on fire and limits movement, making you an easy target.
If you see a large white wall moving toward you, immediately run in the opposite direction and head for an exit. Failing to do so results in instant elimination.
Learning map hazards is just as important as mastering abilities, especially in late-game scenarios.
Rings, Shop, and Progression
Rings are earned simply by playing matches. Higher ranks reward more rings per round.
The shop allows you to exchange rings for cosmetics only. There are no gameplay advantages tied to purchases, keeping the game skill-focused.
The inventory menu lets you equip cosmetics and is straightforward to navigate, so experimentation is encouraged.
Start with one survivor and fully learn their abilities before switching roles. Awareness and positioning matter more than aggression, especially early on. Communication with teammates dramatically increases survival chances, even without voice chat.
Once you understand the basics, explore other survivors to find the playstyle that fits you best. Outcome Memories rewards knowledge, patience, and teamwork far more than reckless play.
Your journey has only just begun, but with this foundation, you are already playing the game the right way.
